The Art of Hosting Water Dialogues
This training builds on both the in-the-field experience of water practitioners who come as participants, and the learning Waterlution has gained over the past years of hosting water workshops across the country in a multitude of contexts and often facing varied perspectives on common water issues.
Drawing on The Art of Hosting - a global community of practitioners and a practice in understanding the patterns of community-building beneath methodologies - this workshop series helps participants discover and learn the art of the 'host' and how to host the conversations that matter for the health of our water.
The Future of Water Workshop Series
What?
The Future of Water Workshop Series is Waterlution’s flagship workshop program. Launched in 2006, this series has included 48 weekend-long residential workshops in 9 provinces and 2 territories thus far; engaging over 1500 youth and 300 resource guests in interactive exploration of local water issues.
Who?
Young leaders aged 18-35 years with a passion for local sustainable development are invited to apply for these workshops. Individuals of all backgrounds and professions/areas of study are welcome. A typical workshop will have 20-25 participants.
Where?
Communities and watersheds across Canada. All The Future of Water workshops are locally-focused, tackling topics relevant to the region.
Why?
By connecting stakeholders, generations, cultures and industries, Waterlution workshops create an engaging, fun, and safe space for the exploration of critical water management issues. The goal of the workshop series is to develop passionate, informed decision-makers of tomorrow. We use innovative dialogue techniques to build the capacity of a community - and Canada as a whole - to address its water-related challenges, while providing valuable leadership development, facilitation and critical thinking opportunities to participants.
