Gemma grew up in and around water where Lake Ontario turns into the Saint Lawrence. Her professional interest in water policy was sparked on an undergraduate exchange to East Africa. She completed her Master’s in Water Science, Policy and Management in the UK and focused her research on Ontario’s source water protection process. Gemma has worked for a number of water-related organizations, including the United Nations University Institute for Water, Environment & Health, and sits on the advisory board for a Canadian NGO that funds water, health and education projects in East Africa. She is currently working as an Agri-Environmental Policy Analyst at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Ottawa where much of her work focuses on agricultural water policy across the country.
